Cabinet Painting vs. a Full Kitchen Remodel: What You Actually Get
Full kitchen remodels on the Suncoast run upwards of $30,000. If your cabinet boxes are solid, painting gets you much of the look for a fraction of that.
The real cost of a remodel
A full kitchen remodel in Sarasota and Manatee County typically runs upwards of $30,000, and it often means weeks without a working kitchen. New cabinets, countertops, demolition, and installation all add up fast.
For many homes, the cabinet boxes are perfectly solid. The problem is the color, the finish, or a dated look. In those kitchens, professional cabinet painting changes the whole room for a fraction of the cost of replacement.
What professional cabinet painting includes
A real cabinet finish is very different from rolling paint on doors. Our process includes:
- Removing doors and hardware and labeling every piece.
- Thorough degreasing and cleaning, which is critical in a kitchen.
- Sanding and priming with a bonding primer so the finish grips.
- Spraying a hard, washable finish: Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel or Gallery Series.
- Reinstalling doors and hardware, adjusted so everything closes properly.
Less disruption in your home
We do all of the work right in your home, so nothing is taken off site. Before we start, we set up a protected workspace in your home so dust and overspray stay contained and the rest of your house stays clean. Turnaround depends on the size of the kitchen, and we give you a clear schedule up front.
When a remodel makes more sense
Painting is not the answer for every kitchen. If the cabinet boxes are water damaged, falling apart, or the layout simply does not work for you, a remodel may be the better investment. We will tell you honestly which side of that line your kitchen is on when we walk it with you.
