The Best Time of Year to Paint a House Exterior in Southwest Florida
You can paint year round in Southwest Florida, but some months are easier than others. Here is how to plan.
You can paint year round, with a plan
Unlike northern states, Southwest Florida never gets too cold for exterior paint. The challenges here are rain, heat, and humidity. A good painter works around them every day, but the season still affects scheduling.
Fall through spring: the easiest window
From about October through May, the weather is drier and more predictable. Humidity is lower, afternoon storms are rare, and paint cures well. This is also when demand peaks, because seasonal residents return and HOAs see more requests. If you want work done in this window, book early.
Summer: still doable
June through September brings afternoon thunderstorms almost daily. We handle that by starting early, painting walls after the sun has moved off them, and stopping well before storms roll in so fresh paint has time to set. Summer can also mean shorter wait times for a start date.
Things that matter more than the month
Whatever the season, a quality exterior job depends on:
- Dry surfaces before paint goes on, especially after washing.
- Avoiding direct afternoon sun on the wall being painted.
- Watching the forecast and protecting fresh work from rain.
- Using coatings rated for Florida humidity and UV.
Our advice
If your home is showing chalking, cracks, or peeling, do not wait for the perfect month. Get a free estimate now, start any HOA approval, and pick a start date that works for you.
